19^th June 2009, Friday – Yesterday morning, I went to Tamu Serambangun to join the other members of Brunei Forever Forum ( a local photography forum) to take photos of the scene there.

Tamu Serambangun is officially known as "Kompleks Pasarneka dan Tamu Tutong". It was officially opened by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mohammad Yusof, Brunei Darussalam’s Minister of Internal Affairs on 30^th August 2007, Thursday.

Tamu Serambangun is a project under 8^th National Development Plan that was carried out by Municipal Department at a cost of BND9 millions.

Since its opening, there were a number of activities or events held at the complex, such as poems presentation in conjunction with National Day in February 2008, Kenali Produk Kitani (Know Our Products) in July 2008, and the hoisting flag ceremony in conjunctions with the National Day and His Majesty’s Birthday for Tutong District.

The complex is open daily, but the peak day is on every Thursday (as a lot of products and vendors are available on this day, I guess). When I came to the complex yesterday at about 7a.m, I found out that I had difficulty to find a "nice" place to park my car (as it was full already)…then, I had to go a parking area that is still made up of gravel. The parking area can accommodate about 40-50 more cars...and, therefore, I parked my car there.

There are a lot of things available at Tamu Serambangun: fish , meat, vegetables (such as a variety of umbuts) , fruits, local rice, medicinal herbs and a lots more. You can look at my photos in this posting to have the idea…however, I only show you some of them.

If you are looking for some ready-made food to fill your empty stomach…you can buy cakoi, kuih malaya, nasi katok, tumpi, bbq tongkeng ayam (chicken tails), bbq chicken wings, satay, and etc. Lastly, you can drop at the food court there…and order Soto Haji Tuah, one of the famous soto in Tutong.

17^th June 2009, Wednesday – This morning I have the opportunity to attend a public lecture that was held at Balai Sarmayuda, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, Berakas. The lecture entitled “Unsur Saintifik dalam Pemikiran Masyarakat Melayu: Satu Kajian Korpus” (Scientific Elements in the Malay Society’s Mind: A Corpus Study).

It was delivered by Prof. Dr. Nor Hashimah binti Jalaluddin, a professor at Program Linguistik, Pusat Pengajian Bahasa dan Linguistik, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in Malaysia.

And…about today’s weather

The above photo was taken at about 8.00am, a few minutes before I went into the Dewan Sarmayuda. It was raining for a few hours since early this morning. This was the second consecutive day there was rains in Brunei (especially in Berakas area) after it was experiencing dry weather for a few weeks. The first day was yesterday i.e in the afternoon.

p/s: Still in the process of reading the lecture’s text, notes, and abstract as well recalling what Prof. Dr. Nor Hashimah was saying in order to understand the topic further.

13th June 2009, Saturday - Ranoadidas 6th Anniversary Celebration was held at iCentre, Anggerek Desa (just a few minutes drive from my home) on the 12th Jun 2009, Friday (yesterday).
